Apothecary Jars

As you all know, I am planning a baby shower. I have been looking into Apothecary Jars for my tablescape. I see a few plain jane jars at Wal- Mart and wanted to do some research.What I found may appeal to others. The first site I came across is
Save On Crafts.
They have a wonderful assortment of items for tablescapes, including frames (I will probably be making my own frames). There were many, many to choose from. However, I found some that I feel are unique and would be great for a tablescape.


The first is a
beverage server.
This would be fabulous with a coordinating beverage.





The next is not so much an apothecary jar, yet would be great on the table. It is considered
a vase.





They also had coordinating
Jordan Almonds,

and rock candy for your tablescapes.








I came across this
Ebay store
that had nice jars but very few at Buy It Now Pricing.

Apothecary Jar
is up to $15.26 with $14.00 shipping.





Through searching, I did find many that were way more than I am willing to spend. I saw one for $289.00. That is just crazy! Target showed many, so I will be making a trip to check these out. If you have purchased some reasonable apothecary jars, let me know where! It would be a great help!

Favorite Part Of Your Home



What is your favorite part of your home?





For me, my special area is the living room. This is where the family gathers. We spend a lot of time with our adult kids and my Grandson and I love it. There is nothing particularly great about this room. In fact, right now it is annoying me because they are too many different wood tones and my husband gets stuck on thinking you cannot paint wood (at least the wood that we have purchased new. Not my resale finds).

Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution

Did anyone watch Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution Part 1 & 2? I am going to be blunt here, so if you do not want to hear it, don't read it. I am absolutely appalled at the American schools/government and their version of cafeteria food. I am also appalled at the reception and attitude that was shown to him. All they way from principal & school board to cafeteria workers. Especially by Alice. And Alice's co-workers followed her attitude. Such a bad example they were setting in front of the children.


He comes in to try and help the way we are feeding our kids in the public school system. Pizza for breakfast? French fries as a vegetable? Through Jamie I learned that chocolate milk had more calories than soda. I had thought it was a healthy alternative!


Also an important point was that there were no knives in the school. They looked at Jamie like he was crazy. Many of these kids didn't know how to use one. Something is wrong with this picture. We are not only feeding our kids badly but we are not teaching them to be self sufficient.


If you feel that our children need to be fed better, the nation's school food program overhauled with healthy alternatives and learn to be self- sufficient, go to JamieOliver's site

As you all know I love anything that helps the environment or involves reduce, reuse, recycles. I posted

about my previous purchases that reduces the amount of cups that I will use (and my frappe maker that saves me cash because I have an addiction to frappes!)

It was already put to use today. I work in a corporate environment and they provide foam cups with plastic lids and straws (along with water, coffee, tea.) I try to use only one cup a day. Today I used this cup throughout the day and it kept my drinks cold until they were gone.

Tutorial & Thrifty Treasure's Linky Party

Today starts a new link party: Tutorial & Thrifty Treasures Tuesdays. I combined the two because there will not always be Thrifty Treasures to post. After all, we have to get out there and find them, don’t we!


I wanted to get this week’s party started by posting some great tutorials I have found sifting through the many wonderful blogs we have. There are many more that I L.O.V.E. but these are some really wonderful ones that I wanted to pass along in case you haven’t seen them.


The first is where all this “obsession” started. I came across
Traci’s blog, Beneath My Heart.
She has so many ideas!


I spent most of a 3 day weekend on here site and her blog friends. I could not get enough. I had first seen her
tile tutorial ,
and that was what “hooked” me.





Then, I just loved everything else and, thus began this wonderful love of finding things to “fix-up” or just to create something new.


A favorite of mine is
Kathy at Creative Home Expressions.
Kathy is very talented and friendly. I contacted her with a question for a project I need help on and she immediately responded with help! I love her recent post on how to renew a tired
armoire.





But also worth mentioning is her version of a
Tracy Porter candle.






There are many more wonderful bloggers that have wonderful tutorials! I personally have many that I have saved to favorites and many more to sift through.

Friday Confessional- Join In


Hi Girls !


It's Friday confessional time- everyone to join in! Just write your own confessional, link it back to GLAMAZON MORMON MOM, and then put your website on Mr. Linky. While you're at it, you should visit all the other people who are playing-it's a great way to grow your blog.


And here is my Confessional:


I confess:
1. My husband DRIVES me CRAZY. He tells me to deal with everything and everyone. Then he gets to criticize when he thinks I have done it wrong.
2. I have gained 10 pounds.
3. Knowing I have gained 10 pounds, I still have not exercised.
4. KNOWING I have gained 10 pounds, I still had St. Patrick’s day cupcakes and we went out to dinner and I had dessert (it was a buffet. I had more than one dessert. Ugh!)
5. I try to visit everyone's blogs on my blog list and on any follows but I am failing. I get through most of them and my computer inevitably blows up (and I am at work- Not good!)
6. Hubs is going to end up hurt if he does not quit watching tv all night and waking me up and then he is hard to wake in the morning because he is so tired.
7. I hate that my company changed the health insurance. Now I NEVER go to the doctor. They will have to wheel me into a hospital before I will see a doctor.
8. That my grandson is the sweetest baby ever. He has the best disposition I have EVER seen in a child!
9. I am furious at my boss. She is “selling” an idea of mine as her own. Like she came up with it!
10. I am sick of two-faced people. I am not talking about kindness and civility. Those should be a standard. I am talking about someone who says you are one of their closest friends and then talks crap about you to everyone at work, including your boss!

Now, I know there has but why can I not think? Maybe because it's 4 am? If I think of it, I will update later.


2. What temperature do you keep your house?


We keep it at 78. It's a good temp for us.


3. Do you notice dust at other peoples homes?


Only if it is B.A.D.


4. What's the worst job you ever had?


Anything on my feet. I have bad circulation and my feet end up swelling and feeling like lead weights.


5. What is your most sentimental possession?


Hmmm. I am not sure off the top of my head. I have a few. There is a divided plate (of no value) that my Grandpa and I use to (teasingly) fight over.
