About Us

At the start of the new school year we realized that our families were going through an average of 10 plastic bags per day between school and work lunches. We do our best to reuse and recycle in other areas of our lives, but there didn’t seem to be a solution to the plastic sandwich bags we were using.

We developed ReUsies™ for their waste-free quality, but many customers primary reason for purchasing our product was to eliminate plastic from being in direct contact with their family’s food. Whatever your reason, know you have made a good choice!

We are Seattle moms with a passion to do right by our children, and hope that the footprint we leave behind for future generations will be much smaller. We take pride in our product and we hope you enjoy them too!

Consumption

The EPA estimates 500 billion - one trillion plastic bags are used worldwide every year.
A typical school/work lunch contains 3-4 plastic sandwich bags each day amounting to upwards of 1,000 each year for one person. These bags will all be around long after we are gone!

Impact

• Plastic bags make up over 10% of debris found on US Coastlines.
• Every plastic bag we use will be around for centuries, long after our children outgrow their lunchboxes.
• Each plastic bag takes over 1,000 years to break down. Plastic bags do not biodegrade, they photodegrade whereby over time they breakdown into smaller, more toxic petropolymers.
  Less than 1% of plastic bags are recycled. It costs more to recycle a plastic bag than to produce a new one.

Solution

• By taxing plastic bags with a “plastax” many countries and some US cities are reducing consumption. Ireland has decreased their reliance on plastic bags by 90% after imposing these new taxes!
• Purchasing alternatives to plastic bags. Each ReUsies™ has the potential to eliminate hundreds of plastic bags.

Available Sizes

Snack: approx. 6” w / 5” h
The snack size holds a half sandwich or whole sandwich with the crust cut off! It is good for smaller quantities of crackers, pretzels, apple slices, etc.

Sandwich: approx. 7.5” w/ 6”h
The sandwich size holds a typical "grown up"- sized sandwich, full bagel, or larger quantity of snacks.

A typical lunch would contain one sandwich and two snack-sized bags or three snack-sized bags.

Our family is trying to adopt a more eco-friendly way of life and loved hearing about ReUsies!  Sandwich bags are extremely harmful to our environment, in fact I have seen them on our beaches.  Just between my husband and I, we use 6 bags a day! We were sent some ReUsies to try and we discussed and want to convert completely to these! It's save the environment and will be a money saver for us.
