CLOSED: Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil

Winner:

If you have not heard of Tropical Traditions, let me introduce you to them.

The founders of Tropical Traditions are Brian and Marianita Shilhavy.
Brian W. Shilhavy, BA, MA
Brian earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible/Greek from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and his Master of Arts degree in linguistics from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. He is currently the CEO of Tropical Traditions, Inc.
Marianita Jader Shilhavy, BS, CND (Certified Nutritionist/Dietician in the Philippines) earned her bachelor of science degree in nutrition in Manila. Understanding the nutrition of Filipino foods, Marianita worked for over eight years as a hospital dietician and nutritional counselor in the Philippines.
In 1998 Brian  and Marianita returned to the Philippines with their three children and renovated Marianita's old family farmhouse. By this time the coconut industry was severely depressed due to the negative U.S. campaigns against tropical oils in the 1980s and 1990s. Coconut farmers could no longer support their families on the income generated from harvesting coconuts.

They carry many, many items:

  • Coconut Oil
  • Organic Foods
  • Skin Care
  • Household Goods
  • Supplements
  • Healthy Oils
  • Books
  • Healthy Appliances
  • Pet Products

Be sure to stop by there FAQ page for useful information!

Tropical Traditions sent me some of their coconut oil to review. I have heard all the information that Coconut Oil is great for the body and have wanted to try it but just never did purchase it. Thank you Tropical Traditions for making the introduction!  Although I am not a "health food nut", I will incorporate any item I like that promotes good health and is a reasonable cost to me.   I've recently learned that some of the benefits is that it is an amazing moisturizer and is supposed to work great on scars and stretch marks. I told my daughter this because she has massive stretch marks from having her son.  My husband is the cook, so he incorporated the coconut oil into his cooking and said it handled very well. As for the taste... No one noticed he'd used it. They have some wonderful recipes as well.

So, my daughter is using it on her stretch marks and rubs it on in place of her usual lotion. She enjoys the way it feels on her skin. I will have to check back in with you to let you know how it works on the marks. I am going to try it on my husband. He has those dry skin bumps on the back of his arms.  Oh, and I hear it's great on hair. I just haven't gotten the nerve to do that yet.
