Crystal Light Mocktails

Through my participation in the One To One Network, I received a sample of Crystal Light Mocktails Mojito and Appletini flavored drink mixes from Kraft Foods and nothing that says summer to us like a cocktail out by the pool. However, with little ones around, we rarely do that anymore. Thanks to Crystal Light, we can get the same affect without the alcohol and calories.  The wonderful folks at Kraft have created this wonderful new line of Crystal Light, a limited edition line of drink mixers with just 5 calories per serving. They offer all the flavor of your favorite summertime beverage, without the compromise on calories.  The new Mocktails easily mix up the perfect pitcher without the hassle of muddling limes, blending ice or using a cocktail strainer.

Crystal Light Mocktails are a low-calorie drink mix available for a limited time in Margarita, Mojito and Appletini flavors.  With just 5 calories per serving, they offer all the flavor of your favorite summertime beverage, without the compromise on calories.  New Mocktails easily mix up the perfect pitcher without the hassle of muddling limes, blending ice or using a cocktail strainer.  Just add water, mix it up and toast to summertime!

Once you tear open the packet, you are immediately greeted with the wonderful aroma of refreshing mint and lime. We dissolved the powder in  8 cups of cold water in a pitcher of ice. Easy peasy, right? You can also customize them for your tastes. We lined our glass rims with salt. Yummm!

Cocktails anyone?

Easy Peasy Fried Apple Pies

My family just loves these easy fried pies. They are so easy, I almost feel like I am cheating. I use to make these when we had snow days, back in the Midwest. Now, they have become an anytime treat! I hope your family enjoys them as much as mine!

Easy Peasy Fried Apple Pies

Ingredients –

Oil, for frying the pies
2 cans buttermilk biscuits
1 (21-oz) can apple pie filling (or any that you may like!)
1/4 cup sugar (plus more for cinnamon sugar sprinkling)
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon (plus more for cinnamon sugar sprinkling)
Flour

Directions-

Pour your oil into a large skillet, preferably cast iron, about 1/2-inch up the sides and heat to about 350 degrees F. I have used a home deep fryer for these.
Remove the biscuits from cans, on a pastry sheet, flour the biscuits and roll each one out to approximately a 5-inch round. Place 1 heaping tablespoon of your filling on your biscuit round. Be sure to leave about a 1/2-inch edge all around to seal. Place another rolled out biscuit round on top of the filling. Press around the edges to seal. Dip the end of fork in flour and press around your biscuit edge to get a good seal. Repeat with all remaining biscuits. Makes approximately 8 to 10 pies. Place about 3 of the pies in your preheated skillet. Fry biscuits for about 2 minutes per side or until golden brown. Place fried pies on paper towels to drain. Sprinkle fried pies with cinnamon and sugar.

Yummmm!
