With a new baby on the way, I am always looking for items to help me through my day. However, attempting to stay within budget makes it even harder. When I found the Snuggle Me Cushion, I knew instantly it would be perfect for my new baby!
When I saw it on the site I thought it was a great idea but when it arrived in the mail, I was extremely surprised by the quality! The Snuggle Me Cushion is designed to give your baby a gentle hug, keeping them more content when not in mommy's arms. This amazing pillow features a non-padded center sling area and when baby is placed on it the sides pull up to snuggle baby. The Snuggle Me Cushion comes with a polyester fleece cover that is so soft, in ivory, pink or blue. The cushion is 100% washable! I was pleasantly surprised! Since my new little one has not arrived yet, I tested my pillow when my friend brought her 1 month old over. Baby Victoria loved the Snuggle Me Cushion. It was like a gentle hug around her! If you do not have one, I highly recommend it!

Completed Curio Cabinet

We have been wanting a curio cabinet but, in the past, could not find one that we liked the finish on. We saw this one at Goodwill and talked them down in price.

We did not like the finish. It was some sort of 80's pale wood tone. However, thanks to finding the great bloggers around here, we have learned how to refinish something that has "good bones".

Hubby took all the glass out and taped up the mirror in the back. He then sanded, primed and painted in a black finish. We only use quality paints. Our paint lately has benn Valspar.

He then reassembled the piece, and, W.O.W.!

He thought he'd be cute and fill it...What do you all think of HIS steins?

Monogram Picture Frame Project

Monogram Picture Frame Project

Photobucket!

This weekend I worked on several projects (I hope to show all this week). This picture frame project was a thrifty one. I spent less than $4!

First, I found this picture frame, complete with mat, a couple weeks ago at Goodwill for 2.49. It was in excellent condition and it had good detail. Wasn't sure what I was going to do with it at the time but I sure wasn't going to pass it up!

Last weekend I found wooden letters at the Dollar Tree. This was intended to be an M. If you look at the back you would see the holes to hang it.I needed a W so I just flipped it over. When I saw this the light clicked and I knew what I was doing and picked up scrapbook paper.

I simply took the frame pieces apart, cut the scrapbook paper, taped it to the back of the mat, assembled the frame without the glass, and then centered the W on the scrapbook paper and hot glued it in place.

What do you think?

The Baby Dipper Bowl Review

I was given the opportunity to review the Baby Dipper and was quite excited. I have reviewed many items similar to this. Typically, my Little Man spills most of his food. I tested this bowl many times, for my review, just to be sure it lived up to their statements.
I love the contoured shape. It helps to guide food onto the spoon. The design allows him get the proper amount on the spoon, so spilling is very minimal.
This is a great gift and should be on every baby registry. It is now considered a must-have for my home.
·                 Very good at helping babies learn to self feed with the innovative shape of the bowl and rubber base to keep bowl in place
·                 Utensils are just the right size and shape for little hands to easily grasp
·                 Most of the food stays in the bowl or on the spoon
·                 If you are holding baby and feeding with 1 hand, the bowl stays put with the rubber base
·                 Free of : BPA, phthalate, lead and PVC
·                 Can be washed in dishwasher (top-rack ONLY!)
·                 Mom-invented

The Story of the Baby Dipper® bowl
Barbara Schantz is a mom of twin girls, Greta and Cora, born in 2004, and also the mother of twin boys, Franklin and Carlton, born in 2008. As a stay-at-home mom of twin babies, she faced the daunting task of feeding them. Frustrated with the bowls she had already purchased, she investigated and bought other bowls, but still remained disappointed. The vision for the Baby Dipper®bowl came to her when Cora and Greta were about 6 months old, not long after they started eating baby cereal and other pureed foods. She needed a bowl that required only one hand to successfully feed a baby, but why wasn't there one on the market that satisfied this need?
She was thinking that to accomplish one-handed feeding, the bowl should not slide around on the table and it should aid in the collection of the baby food. A non-slip bottom surface would keep it from sliding. A sloped interior surface and a spoon-shaped collection point would help gather the food down to the last bite. Also, adding to those features, vertical sides would help push food onto the spoon and transparent sides would allow the food to be seen easily by both the parent and the child. The bowl she designed has proven to make feeding much easier for parents and even for toddlers trying to spoon-feed themselves. The patented Baby Dipper bowl is truly unique in the marketplace and hopefully will help parents everywhere.

Description

"If Singletree's only florist didn't deliver her posies half-drunk, I might still be married to that floor-licking, scum-sucking, receptionist-nailing hack-accountant, Mike Terwilliger."
Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend," Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town, a media punch line, and the defendant in Mike's defamation lawsuit.
Her seemingly perfect life up in flames, Lacey retreats to her family's lakeside cabin, only to encounter an aggravating neighbor named Monroe. A hunky crime novelist with a low tolerance for drama, Monroe is not thrilled about a newly divorced woman moving in next door. But with time, beer, and a screen door to the nose, a cautious friendship develops into something infinitely more satisfying.
Lacey has to make a decision about her long-term living arrangements, though. Should she take a job writing caustic divorce newsletters for paying clients, or move on with her own life, pursuing more literary aspirations? Can she find happiness with a man who tells her what he thinks and not what she wants to hear? And will she ever be able to resist saying one . . . last . . . thing?

Author Revealed:
Revealing Questions
Q. How would you describe your life in only 8 words?
A. One woman, too much snark for one soul.
Q. What is your motto or maxim?
A. If you're normal, the crowd will accept you. If you're DERANGED, they'll make you their leader. - Christopher Titus
Q. How would you describe perfect happiness?
A. I don't think there's such a thing as perfect happiness. There's having what you want and wanting what you have.
Q. What’s your greatest fear?
A. Sharks. Clowns. Sharks dressed as clowns.
Q. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be?
A. Punta Cana, Domincan Republic. Probably the most beautiful place I've ever been.
Q. What are your most overused words or phrases?
A. "Dang it." It applies to a lot of situations in my life. There are also some more colorful word choices, but I don't want to get banned from the Simon and Schuster site.
Q. What do you regret most?
A. Wasting so much of my time before I had kids. I seriously just laid around the house, accomplishing nothing. Now that I know how much I can get done in a day, I think of all the books I could have written, the projects I could have completed, and kick myself.
Q. If you could acquire any talent, what would it be?
A. Singing. My voice is just embarrassing.
Q. What is your greatest achievement?
A. Would it be wrong to say, becoming a published author?
Q. What’s your greatest flaw?
A. I have a quick temper and bad brain-to-mouth filter, it can lead to social awkwardness and hurt feelings.
Q. What’s your best quality?
A. When someone is down, I will do my absolute best to cheer them up. And if I can't do that, I will humiliate myself in some fashion to make them feel better by comparison.
Q. What trait is most noticeable about you?
A. A weird sense of humor, which seems to emerge at really inappropriate times.
Q. Who is your favorite fictional hero?
A. My favorite lists always make me look a little scatterbrained. Mr. Darcy, Elizabeth Bennet, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Superman, Jane Eyre, Jacob Black, and on and on.
Q. Who is your favorite fictional villain?
A. Lex Luthor, hands down the most awesome criminal genius ever put to paper.
Q. If you could meet any historical character, who would it be and what would you say to him or her?
A. I would really like to meet Shakespeare or Jane Austen. They've created some of the most enduring characters in literature. I think I would just ask them endless questions to try to figure out how their minds worked. Or there's always the standard: Get history's worst dictators and war criminals in one room, kick them in sensitive areas and when they're down on the ground, crying, "Why?" yell, 'You KNOW WHY." And then run away.
Q. What is your biggest pet peeve?
A. People who answer their cell phones in the bathroom. Or at funerals. I was at a funeral once where the nephew of the deceased kept his Bluetooth in his ear for the entire service. SERIOUSLY!? You're expecting a call that could be more important than mourning and burying a loved one?
Q. What is your favorite occupation, when you’re not writing?
A. I like to cook, but I don't necessarily do it well. I'm a pretty good baker and have some skill as a cake decorator.
Q. What’s your fantasy profession?
A. Author. Or, if that's unavailable, cowboy.
Q. What 3 personal qualities are most important to you?
A. A loving heart, a quick smile, a definite sense of right and wrong.
Q. If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your days, what would it be?
A. Eventually, even I would get sick of Godiva truffles. So I'm going to go with chicken pot pie. It's the perfect food.
Q. What are your 5 favorite songs?
A. Just the Way You Look Tonight, Apologize, Sway, Sympathy for the Devil, The Beginning is the End is the Beginning
On Books and Writing
Q. Who are your favorite authors?
A. It's sort of a mixed bag, Jane Austen, Stephen King, Nora Roberts, Olivia Goldsmith, Anne Rule.
Q. What are your 5 favorite books of all time?
A. Pride and Prejudice, The Stand, The Three Sisters Trilogy, The Bestseller, Bridget Jones' Diary.
Q. Is there a book you love to reread?
A. The Stand, I have to read it once every year. It's such a chilling, approachable, sweeping piece of storytelling. The best stories are about ordinary people doing strange, amazing things. Every time I read it, I find something new in the story.
Q. Do you have one sentence of advice for new writers?
A. Writers write.
Q. What comment do you hear most often from your readers?
A. Your writing sounds just like you talking! Which I take as a compliment.
