This week, we want to know...
What are the Top 3 reasons why you blog?
When I started blogging at the end of January, it was to blog about ways to save money. Since then, it has become slightly more crafty and home décor oriented while maintaining the thrifty vibe.
#3) I feel a deep sense of community with my fellow bloggers. I get to “talk” with so many others day to day and share experiences. . I make it a mission to “talk” to as many as I can each day.
#2) I get to keep in touch with my family and friends. All of my family and friends live out of state. I also share with my co-workers. I live quite a distance from them and this way they get to see what I have been working on in my spare time. They get to find out what's going on in my day to day life.
And my top reason for blogging is...
#1) An Outlet. I love to craft and repurpose items that are unwanted by others. I love to freecycle, frequent thrift shops, and peruse Craigslist for unwanted items that would make great pieces when refurbished. This way I get to document what I am doing and share with others.

Do you Freecycle?
The Freecycle Network™ is a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 4,885 groups with 7,017,000 members across the globe.
Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer and membership is free.
Their mission is to build a worldwide gifting movement that reduces waste, saves precious resources & eases the burden on our landfills while enabling our members to benefit from the strength of a larger community.
To see where your group is, go to: their website.
Most groups are on Yahoo Groups, however as I looked over the site, I see some that list on the Freecycle.org site. There were even listings in Canada and the UK!
After joining your local group, you may post a message of a needed item or items tha you want to give, send an email to your local group's yahoo address or click on "messages" at the local Freecycle group web site. You can find your local group by clicking here and locating your group according to the region where you live. You may sign up to more than one group if you are around several towns. You also respond to posts if you want an item someone is givivg away.
What can you get? Anything that someone no longer wants. There are posts for clothing, cell phones, boxes, you name it!
I have personally gotten a TV nursery monitor, clothing, furniture, etc.

I belong to my local Freecycle Group........love it!
Thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday and leaving a comment! I would've came over sooner, but life (aka kids, HA!) got in my way! Anyway, I have heard of Freecycle and have been meaning to research it, then sort of forgot. Thanks for reminding me! :o)
I do Freecycle, and I do love it--in theory, and *sometimes* in practice. Unfortunately, I would have to stress the caveat 'Freecycler Beware'! I have driven quite a long way to find out that the furniture I'd made arrangements to pick up (including securing a vehicle to haul it, coordinating schedules to help move it, etc.) HAD BEEN GIVEN AWAY by the time we got there! We were picking it up from a woman with whom I had spoken only the night before to make these arrangements. It was clear and agreed that *I* was getting the bureau...not a 'first one gets it' kind of thing. I called and texted several times in the morning to let her know we were on the way and she didn't respond. When we got to her town and started to panic she finally texted me to say it was gone. Other experiences have included 'Well, you'll have to take it apart to get it out of my house' and 'in great shape!' when it's actually falling apart. Here in Ireland it is very expensive to have old furniture hauled away, so many people use Freecyle as a way around that. BE CAREFUL and get as much info as possible when you freecycle, and if you are offering stuff, please be considerate! Tell the truth about your item...karma will get ya if ya don't! :)

I started my blog for myself, for motivation and personal accountability. But I LOVE the sense of community I found!!!
I have done freecycle in the past. I kind of forgot about it though. I'll have to resign up and check it out again!
I have not freecycled yet...but have poked around it. Why do I blog...to expand my creative writing...find my writing voice and recapture my love of crafting, cooking, and creating.
I originally started blogging to keep my family that lives afar updated on my son. Slowly I started to realize how much I loved to share other aspects of our lives as well.
I'm signed up for freecycle but I don't think I've looked at the site since I've joined. I'll have to go back and look around!
Oh, I could totally get into frecycling! What a neat concept!
Why do I blog?
*As a creative outlet in both writing and the opportunity to 'show and tell' (like with DIY projects)
*To encourage and be encouraged
*It's the new "where everybody know's your name" platform - connecting with others that 'get you' :)

Well I freecycled more in ND than here in TX I think it was easier in ND cause I lived in a small town well they call it a "city" but we all know its a town lol

I've found that the reason people START blogging usually isn't the reason they KEEP blogging. I started my blog for the sole purpose of having a place for my soldier husband to stay in touch with us while he was deployed. His internet connection wasn't great and this was "one stop shopping" for him to see pictures, videos, etc.
I continue to blog because it's fun and I love the sharing of ideas and stories with the huge blogging community!! And the friends I've made are THE BEST!!!

I have never heard of freecycle but it sounds like something I would try. I used to have my own "free" cycling in the past when scouting thrown out antiques. I have refurbished many a discarded chair back to life.

I'm stopping by to follow you back from Friday follow. I tried freecycle for awhile but I was on digest version of their e-mail list so by the time I got the e-mail most of the stuff was spoken for. That was many years ago so I don't know if they've changed their format or not. I like to use Craigslist for finding interesting stuff. Oh and why do I blog? I have two blogs, one for my business, which you found already, and the other for my personal posts about sewing. I used Freecycle before moving to our new location. It's really poor here, so I miss being part of a great Freecycle group.

I love to Freecycle too! I've gotten rid of lots of ladies clothes and a baby "Bumbo" too! I've also met some other couponers and started a coupon circle this way.
