Saving Money & The Environment

This weekend we made a couple of purchases that fall in line with my Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose or Saving Money philosophy. I wanted to pass these finds along because they are great for use and I am hoping you will love them too!

The first is The Mr. Coffee CafĂ© Frappe Machine. I am ADDICTED to any frappe, frappucino, frozen sugary concoction. I had seen that it was to come out but hadn’t been available yet and I’d forgotten all about it. Happened to be at Target and it was on SALE! These drinks cost $4 and up at Starbucks & McDonalds!

1 a day @ $4 = $28 a week!

Or $1456 a year!!!!

And I do not even want to know how many calories I have been consuming with those!

The machine comes with a cookbook and I did purchase the ingredients, however, I was able to find sugar free in all the sugary type ingredients!

My second (and to me FABULOUS) purchase was a reusable coffee cup. It is so cute, isn’t it? I got mine at Kohl's, although I am sure they are available almost anywhere.

I just love both items and if you love frappe’s like I do, you can save money and calories! The cup will save money and the environment!

Special Note: I am preparing for my son and his girlfriends baby shower. Can anyone tell me how to go about making the cute cupcake toppers and the candy labels, etc? Any help is appreciated!!

What a great product - now where do you get the ingredients? And, yes, I want sugar free - not fat free:)

What great ideas you have here! Sorry I cannot help with cute cupcake toppers and candy labels, but I'll be back to see what you find:)

The ingredients are really pretty basic:
Coffee: calls for a strong coffee. We use a Hazlenut flavored instead
Chocolate Syrup: There are sugar free versions in both Hershey’s and the store brand
Caramel: I like the caramel flavored and the book calls for caramel like Smuckers (comes in sugar free) that you drizzle on ice cream. It gets used to quickly. I think I got 4 frappes out of it. So, we switched to caramel flavoring. This goes much farther and is available in the coffee aisle at Publix and Wal-Mart.
There are other recipes but I like caramel so, unfortunately that was all I have looked up.
We improvised on my caramel so I am thinking once you have the master recipe you can improvise.

I don't drink coffee, but have been soooo tempted to buy one of those cups too. I use 2-3 different refillable water bottles water bottles all the time. I couldn't live with myself if I bought/threw away all of that material that goes into bottled watter!

Thanks for stopping by my blog & spreading the SITS love!

Thanks for stopping by. I don't drink coffee, but the maker looks cool. I drink tap water not water from bottles unless I am reviewing the water.

its kind of a kick in the gut to realize how many calories youre taking in and how much money youre taking out when you're a starbuc-holic, isn't it??

I rehabed myself 2 years ago...

Ooh, YUM!!! I know you are going to enjoy that machine and sugar free? Wow! The best of both worlds! I don't know about the party things, but I do follow a website called Accent the Party and they have a good blog with lots of ideas and they have tons of party supplies. You might check them out. That's a really cute coffee cup! Unfortunately we go through those cups like crazy. My husband seems to lose one a week... Not saving money here!

Those reusable coffee cups are so adorable! We use a little french press that makes 2 cups but we can't do anything fancy with it.

That is an awesome idea! I love frapps, it's the only drink I get from Starbucks. It would be neat to make my own.

And the reusable coffee cup, both green and cute, you can't go wrong!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Oh my goodness, I just posted about this machine about a month ago. It's funny to see that someone shares the same love of frappuchinos that I do! SO GLAD to have a review of it since it's on my wish list to buy. Now I just need to go get it. ;-)
