Brother P-Touch Team Kitchen Organization

Many readers know that I am a Brother P-Touch Ambassador and read my original post HERE.  As part of our assignment, for our second post we were each assigned a room. My assigned room for this challenge was the kitchen. I had requested this because I needed to get my pantry organized DESPERATELY! This pantry is tiny and it is all I have. It HAS to be organized!
To begin, we started by pulling out the wire shelving in the pantry. It can only handle so much weight. We replaced the wire shelving with wood shelving that my hubby made and installed. He then painted the entire closet with a fresh coat of white paint. Wow! Did it brighten it up! After going through the contents that had been held in the pantry and purging old stuff…ummmm, really old stuff that got buried. We purchased storage organizers, what we thought was a lot of them but after re-organizing, it seems I need more!  After getting the containers loaded and organized we took the time to label everything with our Brother P-Touch Label maker provided by Mom Central.
Once we got started with the labeler, it was so much fun to use! A great thing about the machine is that you can select from several styles. We chose what we thought would be easy to read.You can make labels within minutes of turning the machine! They length will depend on how long your words are.

The P-touch Labeler by Brother is available on Amazon for a mere $16.99. It is so useful and convenient, AND FUN! Now I want to organize and use it all over the house!

Well, I do declaaaare:

First it was Storage Wars and then American Pickers. Now, our latest addiction is Picker Sisters. While many of my readers may not get this fascination, those of you with a creative eye (like Gail at My {re} Purposed Life, who as an AMAZING eye), will understand. Once I’d seen the preview, I just had to watch this new show.

Now, as I previously mentioned Storage Wars and American Pickers, if you don’t like those shows, don’t dismiss this one. It is a completely different format. I immediately loved it in the first 5 minutes. And you may just recognize the two designers on the show. At least if you watched the hit show Extreme Home Makeover you will.

Basically, these two travel across the country looking for “junk” to turn into treasures. Amazing treasures. Take the barb wire roll they found, for example. These became the most amazing lighting. There’s that word again…amazing. That is the only thing I can think when I see their completed projects. Another great example was a house they bought for $500. Yes, I said house. The first thing they made from that wood was an adirondack set. The store isn’t even open and a couple of women walk by spying this set and have to have it. They gather the only cash they have on them offering $526 for this set. Wow! I am in the wrong line of business!

 Starbuck's Blueberry Scones

{via Recipe Secrets}

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Large baking sheet with silpat or lined with parchment paper

Ingredients

2 Cups all-purpose flour

2 tsp baking powder

1 egg

1 Tbsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp sea salt

6 Tbsp fine baker's sugar

1/2 cup ice cold butter

1/2 cup ice cold whipping cream

1 pint of fresh blueberries

For the topping

1 egg beaten

1 Tbsp whipping cream

Wilton's Sugar - large crystals

Cut butter into cubes and refrigerate until ready to use.

Sift the flour, salt, baking powder and sugar into a large bowl.

Cut the butter into the flour mixture with pastry blender until resembles coarse meal

In a smaller bowl whisk the egg, cream and vanilla - add to the dry mixture mixing with a fork, and stir until just combined - do not over mix!

Stir in fresh blueberries.

Pour the dough mix onto a lightly floured board and pat into a 7 inch 1 to 1 1/2 inch high disk. Cut into in half then quarters and then in eights as evenly as possible.

Place the scones on a baking sheet with silpat or parchment paper - this ensures even browning on the bottom

Mix 1 egg with the 1 Tbsp of cream and brush the tops with the cream-egg mixture then sprinkle generously with the sugar crystals.

Bake at 375 degrees for 17 minutes and no longer! This will ensure a moister scone than normally expected.
